bLoc Widget Lock Screen for Blackberry

One of the most irritating things about my newly procured Blackberry torch is that it tends to unlock the screen on it’s own when it’s in my pocket. So a lot of times when I take the phone out of my pocket I find some random application open or a messaging window with some junk filled in. This was when I went hunting around for a lock screen application for my Blackberry.

A quick search landed me on bLOC, a lock screen with a few widgets. This app is available on the Blackberry App World at $2.99 ( approximately INR. 136). Once you install the application, and enable the lock screen in the app setting, as soon as you lock your screen, this app takes over the lock screen showing some default widgets which you can flip through. These are the widgets available in the app:

  • Weather
  • Time
  • Calendar
  • Random Quotes
  • Gold Prices

You’ll have to slide the unlock bar to the right to get back to your home screen. The app works beautifully and I haven’t had a problem with phone unlocking itself, since I installed bLOC.

The only problem with this app is that it interferes with the bedside clock mode which I love on the Blackberry. If you want the bedside clock mode to work and not switch to the bLOC screen, you’ll have to remember to disable it and re-enable it in the morning. If only there was a way in bLOC to automatically disable it when the bedside mode is on, this would have been a 5 star app in my books.

You can get this app by heading over to the Blackberry App world by clicking on this link, or by scanning the QR code using your phone.
