Intex working on an Octa-Core Android Smartphone

We received an update from the folks at Intex about their plans on launching an Octa-Core Android phone in India soon. The yet to be announced phone would be powered by a Mediatek Octa-Core processor running at 1.7 GHz, the MT 6592. According to the press release from Intex, their yet to be named phone could activate all eight cores simultaneously for power hungry games and apps, this against the existing practise for octa-core processors which activate at most only half of the cores simultaneously. I wonder what this will do to the battery life of the phone though.

According to Intex you could look forward to the phone to have the following features:

  • 1.7 Ghz Octa-Core Mediatek Processor
  • 2GB RAM with 16 or 32 GB Storage space
  • Running Android 4.2.2
  • 13 MP rear camera and 5 MP front camera
  • 6 inches HD IPS LCD screen
  • Dual Yamaha 1420 speakers

Commenting on the announcement, Sanjay Kumar Kalirona, Business Head- Mobile, Intex Technologies said,” Our quest to become the top smartphone player in the industry has made us bring extraordinary products with such revolutionary technology in the hands of consumers.  We have always banked upon our tech pedigree to meet the ever changing demands of Indian consumers. We are overwhelmed with the trust that MediaTek have put in us to create the best possible handset providing extraordinary user experience to consumers.”

No news yet on when it’s expected and what the price would be. So stay tuned for updates.
