N97 - Landscape - Auto Complete

It looks like a lot of people on twitter seem to be getting the new N97 firmware v12.2.024. This upgrade is available through the Nokia Software Updater and is not available on the FOTA ( Device Updates under Phone Management on the device) yet. From Twitter traffic it looks like the N97’s having the product type RM-507 can immediatly update to this firmware.

People who have upgraded to this firmware feel that their phones seem to be more responsive and seem to have more free memory after the update. Here’s a discussion thread on allaboutsymbian on this topic.

If you are not seeing the update on your phone, don’t despair. They’ll roll out the firmware to other N97 phones over the next few weeks. I actually got the last firmware update 3 weeks after the first round of roll outs. Crossing my fingers this time for a faster roll out.

A word of caution – even though the N97’s firmware updates preserve user data, it’s advisable for you to take a backup of your important data before you attempt an update.

Update: Here’s a list on the digitalspy forum which shows the list of N97 phones which are eligible for the firmware update.
