Nokia Beta Labs introduces Nokia Video Cuts

Nokia Betalabs has introduced their latest beta project called Nokia Video Cuts. This software aims to replace the default video browser on the phone. Here’s how they describe Nokia Video Cuts:

Finding the key scenes from a video or movie with Nokia Video Cuts is as easy as jumping to a favorite scene from a DVD. Use the Nokia Video Cuts gallery to scroll through the thumbnails of videos on your device and preview any of the videos’ key frames at the bottom of the screen.  Then select your favorite video, jump to a key frame, and enjoy.

All you need to do to try this out on your Series 60 v5 phones is to download the software and run it on your phone. The first time it’s run, it scans your device for existing videos and updates the gallery view. Head over to the Nokia Beta Labs page for instructions and how to download.

Compatibility

  • Supported video formats include: H.263 (.3gp, .3gpp, mp4)
  • Tested on the following devices: Nokia N97 and Nokia 5800 XpressMusic
  • Should also be compatible with other S60 v5 touchscreen devices, including Nokia N97 mini, Nokia X6 and Nokia 5230.

If you’re not the type to try our beta software, here’s a video showing the working of Nokia Video Cuts:
