Scroll through Memory Lane with Amul Cartoon Ads app for iPhone

A lot of us here in India have grown up with the famous Blue-haired girl from Amul’s advertisements on billboards and newspapers. The Amul ads go way back to 1966 when they asked Sylvester daCunha to come up with a new ad campaign for Amul Butter. By 1967, the first ads started showing up on billboards in Bombay.

The Amul ads  which are  now the longest running advertisement campaign in the world, has earned a Guinness world record for this fame.  You can read more about the history of the campaign from Amul’s site.

Now you can relive all the Amul Ads, starting from the 1976 till today from your iPhone by downloading the Amul Cartoons Ads app from the iTunes App Store.  The folks behind this app, Levitum Software Labs, have had a version of this app on the App Store since 2010. But they just released this revamped version with a easy to use UI as a tribute to Dr. Kurien and Amul. The app itself is pretty simple enough to use.

Just start the app, and get scrolling through the many years of ads available. Clicking on the calendar icon on the top left of the screen brings the year picker, for you to jump to the ads from the year you choose. As simple as that!

In case you don’t have an iPhone and still want to browse through these ads, you can head over to Amul’s website as well.
