Symbian goes Open Source!

Tuesday 09th, February 2010 / 12:30 Written by

Everyone expected Symbian to go completely Open source sometime during the second quarter this year, so seeing the countdown on the Symbian site was a bit confusing.

The announcement came 4 months ahead of schedule, less than 20 symbianheartmonths from the time of the initial announcement, the main objective being creating a mature and diverse open source community.

Symbian seems to be in a rather giving mood and has organized the #symbiangives competition, details for which you can check it out over here.

The link to the official press release is over here.
