Just head over to the Android Market and download WiFi File Explorer. Once you open the app on your phone, the app connects itself on WiFi and gives you access to your files straight off the web browser on your PC. If you see in the screenshot on the left, the app created a URL – http://192.168.90.100:8000 for me to access my files on the browser.
When I opened up the browser to that URL, I got a list of all the files and folders present on my memory card. The free application allowed me to surf the files and folders and download files from the memory card to my PC. You can even delete files and folders and compress the contents of a folder into a zip file. There’s no option to select multiple files to download or delete, so you’ll have to do the operations one by one.
To exit the application but continue sharing you just need to press the home button, but if you want to close and stop sharing your files over WiFi, press the back button while the app screen is open.
If you’re looking at doing more, like uploading files from your PC to the phone, you’ll need to get the PRO version of the app which just costs 99 cents. Even if you don’t have access to the paid Android Market, you can buy the pro version over at SlideMe Market Place which is open worldwide.
If you want to try out the free application, just search for ‘Wifi File Explorer‘ in the Android Market App to get to it or simpler yet, just scan the QR code below get to the app directly.
